Winter skincare

I'm a little behind on creating a blog post because I had a busy weekend and then was catching up on my Taylor Swift gossip. 😅 One thing I don't think a lot of people realize is the different needs your skin has as the seasons change. I have a lot of clients wonder why their skin is so dry lately. It's because in the winter, there is less moisture in the air, and then it is lost from our skin as a result.

Exfoliation is important year-round but it helps your moisturizing products get to live tissue in the dry winter months.

I tend to tell my clients who are experiencing a lot of dryness to make sure to exfoliate once a week to get

the dead stuff off of the surface so the moisturizing products work on the live tissue. Some people may need to find a heavier moisturizer or add hydrating products in the winter, especially at night when Trans Epidermal Water Loss (TEWL) happens the most. For some, I even recommend a humidifier in the bedroom to replace some of the water in the air to reduce TEWL.

One of my favorite products right now for hydration is the Jan Marini Hyla 3D Mask. It is a fantastic hydrating mask that feels so luxurious with 5 different types of hyaluronic acid, hyaluronic acid boosting technologies, ceramics, peptides, and many other amazing ingredients for plump, hydrated skin.
